Inside Sacred Forests

Forest Regeneration, the new old-fashioned way

Featuring Amy Rogers (MA, PHD), Forest Regeneration Lead at Sacred Forests, specialized in Assisted Natural Regeneration (ANR). Through ANR, nature's own resilience sets the stage for ecologically intelligent interventions that accelerate forest recovery.

Welcome to the jungle. Deep inside Colombia’s Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountain range, something truly inspirational is happening. After half a century of relentless encroachment and deforestation pressure, “the speed with which the forests are recovering is beyond anything I’ve seen anywhere else,” says Dr. Rogers.

With the essential support of our founding partner Rituals (B Corp™), 200,000 hectares of ancestral rainforest have been reclaimed since 2022. Yet much of this land was recovered in a degraded state. Amy works hand-in-hand with the Indigenous Peoples of the region to restore these irreplaceable forests, faster than nature alone through the potent combination of science and indigenous knowledge.
